The aim of the directory was to create a professional and
business-friendly directory of African and Asian businesses,
executives and associations that are currently operating (or
with potential) in Sub-Saharan Africa. This business directory
will act as a tool for both African and Asian businesses and
trade organisations wanting to promote trade and investment
between the two regions.

private sector and non-governmental organisation levels.

World
Bank SA Survey
The World Bank Africa Region (Office of Chief Economist)
conducted an independent flagship study, Prospects and
Challenges for Africa-Asia Trade and Investment, with
primary focus on Africa’s growing trade and investment relations
with China and India, the two Asian economies with increasing
impact on Africa’s domestic industries and which offer
significant export opportunities for African producers. Emerging
Market Focus assisted the World Bank in this study by conducting
100 survey interviews within the pre-determined sectors. The
result of the analysis was incorporated in a World Bank study
for the World Bank/IMF Annual Meeting in Singapore in September
2006.
